About
Amir Osman (1994), born and raised in London, is a Miniaturist painter, who paints landscapes in the size of a five pence coin. His work is based on nature in response to reality and surreality. His work questions peoples emotional connection with nature and how it makes them feel, the curiosity of discovery and the exploration of beyond the world we live in. He shows this in miniature form, to draw the viewers attention, for them to step closer and transport them into a miniature world of its own. The paintings are based on his own photographs of places he has visited. He also uses images from the internet to capture places he would like to visit and also combine his imagination to create fictional surreal places. He paints with acrylics and also with watercolours on watercolour paper. The paintings will be split into projects with various themes all relating to nature.

Amir’s interest in miniature art began through the fascination of snuff boxes, of its size, showing the landscape scenes in different styles and colours and how each one transported him into these imaginary worlds. Also the fact that how much detail could be added in that size. He wanted to recreate that same feeling in his own work, but smaller, where he could tell a story about nature between reality and surreality, capturing life as we see it and what is beyond, showing the obscure and the overlooked.
He does not use a magnify glass and does not talk too much about how he makes his work, the techniques used and the process. believes that the artwork should tell a story through the viewers interpretation, for them to use their imagination of how the work makes them feel and what it means to them rather than revealing the working process, as this spoils the illusion and takes the mystery away of the artwork itself and what you are seeing. The artwork should create more questions than answers. What is Art? It is not what does it mean, it is did it move you.
